A picture’s worth 1000 words, right?
Make the most of them.

I’ve been there, so I get it.

It’s easy to focus on all the words that need saying. It’s a church, so it takes a lot of words to tell the old, old story.

But we live in a visual culture.

And our churches are behind the game with presenting themselves visually to match the vibrant message that’s proclaimed each week. And let's face, most of our churches can’t afford a fancy graphic designer or even a communications manager.

My name is Jo Nygard Owens, and I’m one part minister (PCUSA) and one part church communicator. I’ve been exactly where you are - frustrated that everything that is produced by the church looks like it was thrown together in Word. Which it probably was.

The good news here? Learning the basics of graphic design are way easier than learning all of Robert’s Rules of Order. And dare I say it, more useful too.

I strive for two things in design:
simplicity and clarity.
Great design is born of these two things.
